First and foremost we believe that yourself and your family are most important assets in any type of emergency. That ideal is reflected in the products we choose. CERT members are family members and not first responders. We purposely try not to include products that may require advanced or on-going training that is above an beyond CERT training because using the product incorrectly could cause severe damage or death in a time of fire or other great emergency.

All products available for sale, except those products made especially for amateur radio licensed individuals, are available normally to the public, and do not require advanced training or certification. Note that all precautions, instructions and warnings should be heeded. All items that are widely available, but are inherently dangerous such as axes, chain saws, portable emergency ladders, portable generators, etc, should be used with extra precaution and respect for the tool or item being used. Tutelage from others and common sense can go a long way to prevent accidents or death if you or a family member are not already familiar with dangerous items.
